Winter's Features

With Christmas been and gone my studio is currently full of life. While I work tirelessly to complete a selection of paintings I intend to enter into a few of the annual painting exhibitions the deadlines draw ever closer! The portrait I am currently working on is intended to be entered into the BP Portrait awards 2012 in the National Portrait Gallery...but I may have to wait until next year if it's not complete in time so watch this space!

In the meanwhile I am continuing to rediscover some of my old favourites and push on with the new studies... Here is a small selection of portraits in the theme of friendship for this bleak but beautiful time of year...(please forgive me friends if yours is not here)

Christian Holder January 2011

Christian Holder, January 2011. watercolour & graphite on paper. Teri Anne Scoble

This is a study I did of my school friend Christian Holder during a luncheon together last year in January.  Christian was a principal dancer in the Joffrey Ballet in New York, it was probably due to his dancing feet that he was a restless model during this study and so I only had thirty minutes to complete it!
Lucy, 25/11/11. watercolour & graphite on paper. Teri Anne Scoble

Lucy 25.11.11
watercolour & graphite
Lucy is one of my most recent studies. On the plea of a friend I have begun to do more clothed life studies... so this one is for you Sheila!

Margaret 11.5.11
watercolour & graphite
Margaret.11.03.11.  watercolour & graphite on paper. Teri Anne Scoble

This study of Margaret always makes another friend smile. She says it is Margaret's warming smile and carefree expression that she loves.

So, for now I will return to my portrait painting until spring emerges...hopefully with a completed piece in time for the exhibition!
