Sky Arts 'Portrait Artist of the Year' - Edinburgh Heat Finalist 2014

I competed in Sky Arts 'Portrait Artist of the Year' 2014 and reached finalist level in the Edinburgh heats. I was delighted to have Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes as my subject and although the day was very busy I was still pleased with my accomplishments in the short and busy four hours we were all given.

Check out the wonderful time-lapse video Sky have produced Julian Fellowes sitting …

… they also had some lovely things to say about my painting…

"Teri-Anne's miniature portrait of Julian Fellowes was an instant head-turner. All three judges were wowed by the striking likeness and level of detail Teri-Anne achieved in just four hours."

I managed to catch up with Julian Fellowes recently for a lovely cup of tea and to finally hand over the completed portrait! I'm so pleased with the finished thing and I hope Julian is too!

Autumn Post - Village of the Damned

Autumn 2013

Village of the Damned

In honour of my upcoming visit to The Chiller Expo in New Jersey, USA, I am using this post to feature some of my more recent artwork. I have been an actress since the age of two and over the years have collected many photographs of my work. I have had the luck to appear alongside my twin sister in many feature films and TV series and wanted to use these great memories in my artwork. 'The Villlage of the Damned' and 'Timeslip' are both featured below:

And, if you are a fan, friend or co-star and near New Jersey this weekend then pop along to see me at The Chiller Expo, from the 25th -27th October, 2013. I shall be there along with many other featured artists including my co-stars from Village of the Damned. See you there!

BP Portrait Award 2013 Mrs Damon and Mrs Healey

Spring 2013

BP Portrait Award 2013 - 'Mrs Damon & Mrs Healey'
"The BP Portrait Award showcases fifty-five of the most outstanding and innovative new portraits from around the world. From informal and personal studies of friends and family to revealing paintings of famous faces, the exhibition features a variety of styles and approaches to the contemporary painted portrait."

Mrs Damon and Mrs Healey, 2013, Oil on Canvas, Teri Scoble

I am pleased to announce that my portrait 'Mrs Damon and Mrs Healey' is to be exhibited as part of the BP Portrait Award 2013 at The National Portrait Gallery. You can imagine my delight! I have been having a good nosey at the other artists who have been selected and am ecstatic to have my work chosen to be exhibited alongside truly talented portrait artists at such a prestigious gallery.

The BP Portrait Award is an event I hold in the highest regard. I adore portraiture and the ability portraits have to capture a moment in the subjects life. To be included in this year's exhibition is an honour and has spurred me on creatively to follow further portraiture projects.. so watch this space.

The painting 'Mrs Damon & Mrs Healey' captures a moment in time in the lives of two elderly women. I was at the hairdressers and whilst sitting reading a magazine I heardtwo ladies behind me chatting. They were giggling like a couple of schoolgirls,so free and full of life; their laughter and gossip belied their age. I hope the viewer will feel included in their conversation; to wonder what they are saying, what’s in the envelope…..just as I did. My reflection is painted into the hood dryer.

I asked their permission to take some brief sketches and notes and some referencephotos and asked for their names. True to traditional form they replied "Mrs Damon and Mrs Healey' and fell about in fits of giggles again when I explained that I wanted to paint their portrait they were both delighted, especially Mrs Damon.

I returned later to Ditton Klippers to complete further details of the salon and asked the owner how the two ladies were. Unfortunately, I was informed that Mrs Damon had passed away. However, I am glad to have captured her in a painting that shows her so full of vitality and joy and hope her relatives and friends see this too.

Late Summer Features...

Summer was full of many distractions from my painting; garden parties, trips to the seaside and rainy days spent haunting galleries. However, I dutifully took my sketch book along with me and sketched at every chance I got. Over the season my kitchen was filled with soft fruits and flowers and so this feature is dedicated to summer fruits...I even experimented with painting using the fruit's own natural dyes from the juice.
